Tensilica appoints Global UniChip as an Authorized Design Center
SUNNYVALE, Calif.----Oct. 9, 2000--Tensilica®,
Inc., a Santa Clara-based provider of application-specific processors
and development tools for System-on-Chip (SOC) designs, today
announced that Global UniChip Corp. has been appointed as a Tensilica
Authorized Design Center.
Design Centers provide essential services to many organizations
that are defining and building their leading edge SOC designs today.
Through the company's Authorized Design Center program, a part of the
Tensilica Xtensions Network Program, Tensilica ensures that these
services will be available to its licensees. Tensilica Authorized
Design Center engineering personnel receive extensive training on the
Xtensa(TM) architecture, configuration and software development tools,
on-going support and access to technology updates, and direct access
to applications engineering.
``Global UniChip has established a reputation of excellence,
providing their customers design services and IP for complex SOCs in
multimedia and communications products,'' noted Bernie Rosenthal,
Tensilica's vice president of marketing and business development.
``Their focus on platform solutions for these market segments coupled
with expertise in supporting the configurable Xtensa(TM) processor
will enable our customers to achieve their demanding time to market,
performance and cost goals. We look forward to working with UniChip to
serve our customers in Taiwan.''
``Our customers have stringent cost and time to market demands
across a large range of products that require the development of
platform level solutions encompassing significant levels of IP and
integration expertise,'' stated K. C. Shih, president and CEO of Global
UniChip. ``Tensilica's configurable Xtensa processor provides an ideal
foundation to address the widely varying requirements for the creation
of these platforms targeting multimedia, Internet Appliance and
wireless applications.''
